The Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival , BIEFF.15, brings eight special films from the Arsenal on Location series between September 22 and 28, at Cinema Elvire Popesco, Cinemateca Eforie and Cinema Union.
The selection explores how cinema can build communities – from feminist stories from 1980s India to reinterpretations of the legacy of the Eastern Bloc. Even though short, these films capture solidarities that have left echoes in history and show cinema as a collaborative and non-hierarchical process, not only between the crew, but also with the subject of the images.
The theme of the edition is Common Ground, and the program also includes masterclasses held by international guests. The public can participate this year through a “pay what you can” policy, so that the festival remains accessible to all.
BIEFF.15 means film, dialogue and community.
