Erasmus+ in pre-university education: What is it and who can go?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The program is not just about &#8220;high grades,&#8221; but about intercultural competences and life experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu\/ro\/erasmus-programme-guide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Group or individual mobilities<\/a>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Students can go in groups (accompanied by teachers) for learning activities with students from other countries, or individually (for longer periods, from one month to a school year).<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.erasmusplus.ro\/educatie-scolara\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Minimum age:<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Although most projects target high schoolers, there are opportunities for middle school students as well (over 12-19 years old), especially through school partnership projects.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu\/ro\/resources-and-tools\/how-to-apply\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">100% Funding<\/a>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The European Union covers transport, accommodation, and meal costs, and depending on the project, pocket money. A student does not have to pay anything out of their own pocket to participate.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>2. What teachers &#8220;forget&#8221; to tell you (the practical part)<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In many high schools, information remains stuck at the level of the board of directors or a few teachers. Here are the steps you must take on your own:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.erasmusplus.ro\/rezultate-selectie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School accreditation<\/a>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To send students consistently, your school must have an &#8220;Erasmus Accreditation&#8221;. Ask the secretariat or the European projects coordinator directly if your high school has this status.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/youth.europa.eu\/home_ro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth exchanges<\/a>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This is the &#8220;shortcut&#8221; that isn&#8217;t talked about in class. You can go on a youth exchange (5-21 days) even if your school does NOT have projects, through accredited NGOs.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Selection is not just based on grades:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Many schools focus only on the general average, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu\/document\/implementation-guidelines-erasmus-and-european-solidarity-corps-inclusion-and-diversity-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erasmus Guide encourages the inclusion of young people with &#8220;fewer opportunities<\/a>&#8221; (financial problems, social difficulties, disabilities). If you are in a difficult situation, you have priority in selection.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>3. Where do you start it all?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to go and the school does not provide information, take the initiative:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Check eTwinning:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is<a href=\"https:\/\/school-education.ec.europa.eu\/en\/etwinning?prefLang=ro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the platform where teachers find external partners<\/a>. Suggest to your English teacher to create an account there.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Follow Facebook\/Telegram groups:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Search for &#8220;Erasmus projects Romania&#8221; or &#8220;Youth exchanges.&#8221; NGOs post calls daily for young people aged 15-18.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Project results:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu\/projects\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erasmus project results platform<\/a> to see which schools in your city have won projects in the past.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Your passport to maturity<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Erasmus+ for students is much more than a free trip; it is proof that you can manage in a foreign country, speaking a foreign language, before turning 18. This experience weighs heavily in your future CV and offers you a perspective that no high school textbook can teach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you feel that your school is not active, do not wait.
